Contact us if you’d like to attend our mounted fox hunting clinic Sunday, Feb. 25, 3:30-5:30, followed by  an introductory fox hunt with the Loudoun Hunt on Sat., March 3. Must be an intermediate rider. We will cover EVERYTHING (tack, attire, etiquette, history, hunt staff and roles, expectations of horse/rider, etc.). Includes talks by master and huntsman, and a kennel tour.

$50 reduced cap fee(adults) for the hunt on March 3, plus $150 extra fee if you need a horse for the fox hunt. Our staff will ride with you on the hunt to assist and explain. Trailer spots limited!

Ride through the cornfields, Saturday, Sept. 23rd, 2 pm -3:30

Ride in a group through the cornfields.    One of our instructors will guide the group.  If we get  a large group, we might split into 2 groups by riding level.

 

Lameness and Horse Care Clinic – Sat. April 14, 3-5 pm

Provided by Clarke equine in conjunction with our staff, we will be seeing a live demonstration of the “lameness locator” on one of our horses.  Also will be discussing what every horse owner should know (routine care: worming/vaccines/Coggins/dentist/farrier) as well as common ailments (Colic, abcess, wound care, fever, tying up) and when to call the vet! Refreshments served.  If you work with horses, lease a horse, dream of owning a horse, or are lucky enough to own one now, you should see this presentation. At the end, wrapping of a foot and leg demo.

Mary Flood Dressage Clinic – Sun. March 10

  • Dressage (meaning “training”) is the foundation for all riding.
  • Clinic may use cavaletti, poles, strides, cones, tempo, circles, and/or patterns to gymnasticise  horse and rider
  • Focus on correct Body Position
  • Practice proper geometry
  • Semi-private format $125 per person/ 1 hour

 

During her career, Mary has successfully trained and competed a number of horses at the FEI Level. In addition, Mary’s European training has led to multiple awards and accomplishments, including:

Mary has shared her extensive knowledge by helping develop future instructors through USDF workshops and seminars and offering clinics throughout the United States. In addition, she has spent many years teaching the U.S. Pony Club and has assisted three riders to earn their “A” rating. Mary has been featured in national magazines, including Dressage Today, USDF Connection, Dressage and CT and Practical Horseman, as well as appeared on several television programs, such as “Living with Animals,” a PBS special about advanced dressage.

Pepper has done a little bit of everything: trail riding, Western riding, English pleasure, hunters, and eventing.  He is a steady partner for a developing rider and can jump up to 2’6″. He is available for lessons and lease.

CIT training clinic, Sat. June 15th 2-4 pm.

$25 / 1.5 hours

Must be 11 years old for clinic, although cannot assist in summer camps until 12 years old.  (strict age requirement)  Can help with birthday parties and scouts at age 10+.  Come from 2-4 for the clinic with all the details on our structured program. CITs help in summer camps, and also for birthday parties, and Girl Scouts.  Come check out our amazing program.  Pizza and drinks served.

We will review a variety of topics such as:  barn chores,  daily health check of horses, grooming, tacking, and working with beginners.    This one clinic will not guarantee a position as a CIT or barn worker, but is meant to show the expectation of the positions, and show the proper ways of performing these duties.  scouts_100_0714

Outside Summer Trail Rides – various dates

For adults and teens.  We will be going on several trail rides with various groups (trail or hunt) and will post new rides as we come across them.
Date TBD  Ride to the Bluebells in Manassas Battlefield.  Red Gate Farm will be going to winery after the ride.  $150 includes use of horse, trailering fee, guided ride,  and (the first bottle of) wine.  8am – 4pm from Red Gate Farm.
